Code of Conduct

A good discussion starts when everyone can respect each other. Use this code of conduct to help you disagree without being disagreeable.

  • EVERYONE PARTICIPATES

Whether you're the writing type, the speaking type, the researching type, or the quiet type, there's a chance for you to take an active role in the conversation. Don't be afraid to voice your opinion - it's necessary for a good debate!

  • STEP UP, STEP DOWN

Be mindful if you're taking too much time when giving your opinion and take notice if you're not talking enough. Don't forget to encourage your peers to talk, too - a diverse group of voices is important for discourse.

  • EXPECT RESPECT

Disagreements are expected, but when you disagree with someone, it should be thoughtful and respectful. Never critique the person, only critique the idea.
